Falcons Sign Sharpe To Active Roster

The Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday placed safety Antoine Harris on season-ending injured reserve with a groin injury.

Harris played primarily on special teams, appearing in 12 games and making two tackles.

Also on Tuesday, Atlanta signed cornerback Glenn Sharpe from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster and signed offensive guard Nate Bennett to the practice squad.

Among ex-UM players cut the past two days in the NFL: Lance Leggett and Derrick Morse (Cleveland), Darnell Jenkins (Houston), Glenn Sharpe (Atlanta), Andrew Bain (Giants), Tanard Davis (St. Louis) and Teraz McCray (Buffalo). The 49ers earlier cut Kyle Wright.

Cornerback Von Hutchins will miss the season with a foot injury. After signing on the second day of free agency in March, Hutchins was projected as the No. 1 nickel. The Falcons re-signed Glenn Sharpe, whom they released as an unrestricted rookie free agent four days ago, to take Hutchins' place on the roster.
