Jimerson, Jaxx take down Mobile

(Mobile, AL) July 18th- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx jumped out to an early lead and held off a Mobile rally to defeat the BayBears 5-4 in game two of the five game series from Hank Aaron Stadium. The win was the Diamond Jaxx second in a row over Mobile.

Charlton Jimerson slugged a two run homer in the first inning off losing pitcher Matt Green (9-5) to give the Diamond Jaxx the early lead. The home run was Jimerson's seventeenth of the season and extended his hitting streak to fourteen straight games. The Diamond Jaxx scored single runs in the second and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead. That was enough for Jaxx starter Doug Fister (3-7). Fister broke a personal five game losing streak as the right-hander allowed three runs on nine hits over 6 2/3 innings of work. Jose De la Cruz pitched the final two innings to pick up his second save of the season. Jimerson and Casey Craig led the Diamond Jaxx offense with two hits and two RBI's each, while Rene Rivera had three hits and a run driven in to help lead the Diamond Jaxx ten hit attack.

Cesar Nicolas and Rusty Ryal both homered for the BayBears in a losing effort. Nicolas went 2-3 with a homer and two RBI's, Emilio Bonifacio had three hits and a run scored and Chris Rahl had two hits to help lead the Mobile eleven hit attack.

Jimerson's two-run shot key to West Tenn win

A steady mist didn't bother the Birmingham Barons Saturday night. Ex-Miami Hurricane Charlton Jimerson was another matter.

Jimerson, MVP of the 2001 College World Series, homered for the third time in four days at Regions Park. His two-run shot proved to be the difference in a 4-3 victory for the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx.

"He's a guy who's got major league experience," Barons manager Rafael Santana said. "You can tie him up with a decent fastball, and (starter Ryan) Wing did that the first couple of times up.

Jimerson Propels Jaxx Over Braves

(Jackson, TN) June 21st- Charlton Jimerson went 4-4 with two homers and four RBI's to lift the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx to an 8-1 win over the Mississippi Braves in game four of a six game series at Pringles Park. The win for the Diamond Jaxx was the first in the second half of the Southern League season.

The Diamond Jaxx scored early and often off spot starter Brad Nelson (3-1). Nelson, who got the start after Jo-Jo Reyes was sent to Triple-A Richmond, allowed seven runs (five earned) on nine hits over 3 1/3 innings of work. The Diamond Jaxx scored one in the first, two in the second and four runs in the fourth inning to put the game away.

While the offense was cranking on all cylinders, Joe Woerman kept the Braves off the scoreboard with 5 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Woerman (3-4) allowed just one hit with four walks and six strikeouts to pick up the win. Jose De la Cruz, David Asher and Chad Fillinger combined to allow a run on three hits over the final 3 2/3 innings of work.

Game five of the six game series takes place on Friday night at 7:05 CDT. Right-hander Travis Chick (2-0 0.53) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Mississippi will counter with lefty Kelvin Villa (4-5 5.48).

Jimerson Named Southern League Player Of The Week

(Jackson, TN) June 11th- Diamond Jaxx OF Charlton Jimerson has been named the Southern League Player of the Week. It is the second time this season that the San Leandro, CA native has been given this prestigious honor.

Jimerson had an incredible week at the plate as the twenty-seven year old went 14-31 (.452) with four home runs and thirteen RBI's. Jimerson added four stolen bases and compiled an impressive .935 slugging percentage. Half of Jimerson's fourteen hits were extra base hits (four home runs and three doubles).

Charlton Jimerson went 3-4 with the only run batted in to pace the Diamond Jaxx attack. Sunday's performance by Jimerson capped off a week in which Jimerson went 14-31 (.452) with four homers and thirteen RBI's.

PEARL, Miss. - Charlton Jimerson had another career night with two home runs and five RBIs to help the Diamond Jaxx beat Mississippi, 12-6, and avoid a sweep against the Braves.

Both teams had 16 hits. Jimerson was 3-for-5, including a three-run homer in the second inning and a two-run shot in the seventh.

Jimerson Carries Diamond Jaxx over Smokies, 5-4

(Jackson, TN) May 29th- Charlton Jimerson hit three home runs, including a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning as the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx rallied to defeat the Tennessee Smokies 5-4 in game two of a five game series from Pringles Park. The win pulls the Diamond Jaxx to within four games of the Smokies in the Northern Division. Tennessee remains one game ahead of Huntsville, who lost to Montgomery 3-0.

Jimerson homered in his first two at-bats and delivered a two run double down the left field line to tie the game at four in the sixth inning. With Smokies pitcher Greg Reinhard (0-1) on the mound and one out in the bottom of the ninth, Jimerson hit a drive over the left field wall for his third homer of the night. Jimerson finished the night 4-5 with three homers and five RBI's. He also made Kam Mickolio (3-0) the winning pitcher. Mickolio pitched an inning of scoreless relief.

Tennessee scored all of their runs in the first two innings. The Smokies were held to just two hits after the second inning. Josh Kroeger hit a three run homer to pace the Smokies offense. Casey McGehee extended his hitting streak to fourteen consecutive games and made three outstanding defensive plays at third base.

Game three of the five game series takes place on Wednesday night at 7:05 CDT. Left-hander Robert Rohrbaugh (4-4 4.50) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will counter with right-hander Mark Holliman (6-2 2.26).

Charton Jimmerson Released by Astros

Outfielder Charlton Jimerson was granted his outright lease Wednesday, four days after being outrighted to Class AA Corpus Christi.

Jimerson, who has 854 strikeouts in 2,378 career minor league at-bats, hit .247 with 18 homers and 45 RBIs last year at Class AAA Round Rock. He hit a 440-foot homer for the Astros in his first major league plate appearance on Sept. 4, 2006, at Philadelphia.

The Astros sent Jimerson to Corpus Christi because their outfield is set in Round Rock with Hunter Pence, Mike Rodriguez and Josh Anderson.

"His request at that point was to find a trade for him and, if not, would we be willing to release him?" general manager Tim Purpura said. "We tried the last couple of days to trade him and couldn't come up with anything, so we released him."

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Houston Astros erased two more names from their roster on Monday when they outrighted outfielder Charlton Jimerson to Double-A Corpus Christi and bid farewell to right-hander Ezequiel Astacio, who was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers.

Jimerson also comes off the 40-man roster. Headed for the Minor Leagues for the seventh year in a row, the 27-year-old outfielder wasn't in a chatty mood after emerging from manager Phil Garner's office.

"I don't have anything to say," he said.

Charlton Jimerson got his second major league hit on Monday with a single to center in the fifth inning. Both of his hits have come while pinch hitting against the Phillies. He drilled a pinch home run in his first major league at-bat Sept. 4 at Citizens Bank Park.

Rookie Charlton Jimerson and former Astros manager Larry Dierker have birthdays today.

Jimerson will celebrate by having his wife Reza and daughter with him in attendance tonight at Minute Maid Park for the first time this season.
Jimerson's father Eugene, sister Lanette and younger brother Terrance also will watch him at Minute Maid Park for the first time today.

PHILADELPHIA — Hayward's Charlton Jimerson hit a pinch-hit home run in his first major league at-bat for Houston, but it was Chase Utley's home run in the 10th inning that lifted the Philadelphia Phillies to a 3-2 victory.

Jimerson, a former Mt. Eden High standout, pinch-hit for Roger Clemens with two outs in the sixth inning and broke up Cole Hamels' perfect game with a homer.
