Walker Replaces James at Ramat Hen

TamaraJames
So you thought the end of the regular season would put an end to player movement? thing again. In a surprising and rather infuriating move, Ayana Walker moved from Holon to Ramat Hen in place of Tamara James who was released. Holon added Brooke Reves – the league's 2nd leading scorer who was released from last placed Tel Kabir.

James was Ramat Hen's leading scorer with 18.5 points per game, the best 3pt shooter on the team with 47.1% and the most versatile offensive option the team had despite playing through a nagging shoulder injury, but Ramat Hen still decided to let her go. The loss on Monday at Ashdod must have stressed to Ramat Hen a bit too much just how dependant they are on their lone post, LaToya Pringle. Ayana Walker will replace James, she averaged 21.1 points and 11.4 rebounds per game in Holon this season and this will be her 2nd term with the club.

As you recall Ramat Hen won the Israeli Cup before the break and up until Monday shared 1st place in the league with Ramat Hasharon. The team wasn’t playing particularly well since Shay Doron joined as she hasn't quite fit in yet, but it's definitely surprising they decided to change their team concept at this critical stage of what has been a very successful season for the club. It will be interesting to see how Walker & Pringle work together and how long it will take Ramat Hen's offense to play real basketball and not just live off offensive rebounds.

Ex-UM star Tamara James to conduct hoops clinic

TamaraJames
No matter how big Tamara James made it in basketball -- leading South Broward High School to three consecutive girls basketball state titles, forging an All-American career at the University of Miami and getting drafted No. 8 overall in the 2006 WNBA draft, James has always made time for the neighborhood children.

On Sept. 13, James will return to the Dr. Martin Luther King Community Center in Hollywood, where she played pickup games as a rising prep star, for the third annual Tamara James Fun Day and Youth Basketball Clinic.

James, with an assist from University of Miami Womens Basketball head coach Katie Meier, will lead elementary and middle school-age children through drills from 9-12.

There will be free food and drinks and giveaway for the kids. Meier and her coaching staff will then conduct a coach's clinic from 1-2.

Mills & Williams out, James & Terry in (Tamara James Update)

When Tausha Mills arrived in Motzkin she was a mystery. Former #2 pick in the draft who didn't find her place in the league, played a little in Europe, got hurt and fell off the radar. She leaves Motzkin as the Israeli league's rebounding leader with a blistering 15.8 rebounds per game average, along with 18.1 points per game. Those numbers caught the attention of one of the rich teams in Poland, who made her an offer no Israeli team can compete with.

After her last game with the team, where Motzkin lost the cup semi final ticket to Bnei Yehuda, Mills shed some more light on the reasons for her leaving: "It's very sad for me to leave, I have one of the greatest coaches, the staff is incredible. I hate the fact that I gotta get outta here but an opportunity awaits and I thank God for it.
Every time I get on the court wheather it’s in Motzkin Israel or Iraq, I have to play to my abilty. The coaches have done a great job, if anyone I credit I credit him, Adan and Ilan have done a tremendous job preparing me and allowing me to get in shape."
Angelina Williams also decided not to return to Motzkin, who won their last 6 games and are 5th in the standings.

Enough about those on the way out, Motzkin has already signed two new players. The bigger name out of the two is Tamara James (5'10, 22), a young and talented forward who can play both outside and inside. James was the 8th overall pick in the last WNBA draft, by the Washington Mystics after a superb career at the University of Miami. She averaged 20.0 points (49.6% from the field), 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over four years. James was named to the All-ACC 1st Team as a junior and a senior for the Hurricanes. She is a versatile player who can play the 3, 4 and 2 positions.
