Damien Berry Arrested Again

DamienBerryRavens
A former Baltimore Ravens reserve running back who missed a court date in Maryland has been arrested in Florida after speeding in an ATV on a city street, police said.

Damien Jamaar Berry, 27, was being held Tuesday in the Broward County jail on charges of driving with a suspended license, carrying a concealed firearm and an out-of-state hold, according to jail records.

Berry has a no-bond warrant from Howard County, where he failed to appear in Circuit Court in August for a pre-trial settlement conference in a case where he's accused of writing a bad check to buy a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover.

A police officer in Pembroke Pines, Fla., saw Berry driving a 2014 Honda four-wheeler on a city street on Sunday night and pursued him for about a mile before pulling him over, according to a police report.

The officer said Berry was speeding and appeared to be trying to avoid being pulled over. When Berry was arrested, he told police that he had a gun in his backpack. Officers found a loaded Springfield XDS .45-caliber pistol in the bag. Berry does not have a Florida concealed weapons license, police said.

It's not yet clear when Berry will be returned to Maryland. If Berry fights extradition, it could take weeks, said T. Wayne Kirwan, a spokesman for the Howard County State's Attorney's Office.

"He will be extradited back and when he's brought before a judge, he won't be able to bond out because it's a no-bond bench warrant," Kirwan said.

A Howard County judge issued the warrant for Berry after neither he nor an attorney showed up in court on Aug. 24. He has no attorney listed in Maryland court records and no one answered Berry's phone on Tuesday.

In the Howard County case, Berry is accused of writing a bad check from a closed account for $106,024 to buy a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover from a Clarksville car dealership, according to the Howard County State's Attorney's Office. He's charged with theft of more than $100,000, writing a bad check of more than $100,000, vehicle theft and unauthorized removal of property.

Berry initially was charged in March in Howard County District Court, was picked up on a warrant in Lee County in Florida in May and was extradited to Maryland. He showed up for a court date in District Court and asked for a jury trial, which moved the case to Circuit Court.

Berry is a native of Belle Glade, Fla., and played for the University of Miami before being signed by the Ravens in 2011. He spent time on the practice squad and injured reserve before being released in 2013.

Howard County judge issues no-bond bench warrant for Damien Berry

DamienBerryRavens
A Howard County judge has issued a no-bond bench warrant for former Baltimore Ravens reserve running back Damien Jamaar Berry.

Berry allegedly failed to appear for a settlement conference scheduled Monday afternoon in Howard County Circuit Court, according to the county's state's attorney's office.

The warrant was issued by Howard County Circuit Court Judge Timothy J. McCrone.

Last May, Berry was arrested in Florida on a Howard County warrant, charging him with $100,000-plus theft, passing a bad check and auto theft in connection with the purchase of a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover from a Clarksville auto dealership, the state's attorney's office said.

Berry was later returned to Maryland, where he requested a jury trial in circuit court and was released on $15,000 bond after agreeing to Monday afternoon's settlement date that was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Settlement conferences often establish subsequent court dates for motions hearings and trials.

Berry spent the 2012 season on injured reserve after being on the Ravens' practice squad as a rookie two years ago. He was released by the Ravens before the 2013 season.

According to prosecutors, no defense attorney entered Berry's appearance in the case.

The former NFL player sold his Super Bowl XLVII ring last year and it later was auctioned off by Goldin Auctions. He told The Baltimore Sun that he didn't sell his ring, but notarized documents told a different story.

Ken Goldin, the founder of Goldin Auctions, two years ago said Berry and witness Brian Levine went to a Wells Fargo bank in Florida to have the sales contract notarized. Goldin said Berry displayed his driver's license to an authorized, licensed notary before being given two cashier's checks that the NFL player then cashed at the bank.

A copy of one cashier's check in the amount of $10,000 from Wells Fargo made out to Berry was emailed to The Baltimore Sun. The documents show that the purchase agreement was signed and executed Aug, 30, 2013.

Goldin said the ring later was sold to an undisclosed third party, which then consigned it to Goldin Auctions.

Damien Berry extradited to Maryland from Florida on theft, fraud charges

DamienBerryRavens
Former Ravens reserve running back Damien Berry was extradited from a Florida jail on outstanding warrants in Maryland for charges of writing a bad check of over $100,000, vehicle theft, unlawful taking of a vehicle and unauthorized removal of property charges, according to Maryland court records.

Berry, 26, is free on bail and has been assigned a July 14 date at Howard County District Court. He faces charges in Howard County for allegedly writing a worthless check of $106,024 for a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover purchased at a Clarksville car dealership.

Berry was arrested by the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida on the Maryland warrant a week ago. He was extradited to Maryland on Tuesday, according to Florida and Maryland law-enforcement officials.

On March 3, the manager of the car dealership filed a report with Howard County Police alleging that Berry purchased the vehicle with a personal check, according to police. Written for the full amount of the purchase price, the check came from a closed bank account.

The warrant was issued March 25 by Howard County Police.

Berry also has active cases in Maryland in Baltimore County for driving on a suspended license and failure to appear, failure to display license on demand and failure to appear, and failure to pay child support.

Before being released by the Ravens two years ago, Berry was arrested by Baltimore County police on a failure-to-appear warrant stemming from a charge of driving with a suspended license.

The former University of Miami player was pulled over in his 2010 BMW by Howard County police on Jan. 24, 2013, at 1:06 a.m. for driving 63 mph in a 40 mph zone.

The native of Belle Glade, Fla., was cited for speeding as well as driving with a suspended out-of-state license, driving on an expired license and failure to display license on demand.

Berry spent the 2012 season on injured reserve after being on the Ravens' practice squad as a rookie two years ago. He was released by the Ravens before the 2013 season.

The former NFL player sold his Super Bowl XLVII ring last year and it later was auctioned off by Goldin Auctions. He told The Baltimore Sun that he didn't sell his ring, but notarized documents told a different story.

"We feel like our credibility has been questioned by Damien, and I feel like he's injuring the sale of the ring," Goldin said last year in a telephone interview. "We wanted to set the record straight and assure the winning bidder on the ring to know that we have full authorization to sell the ring and they will own it clear and unencumbered. I don't know why Damien is doing this, but I can only imagine that Damien is embarrassed."

Berry told The Sun at the time that a friend put the ring up for sale without his knowledge to an undisclosed third party, which then sold it to Goldin Auctions.

"I would never knowingly sell my Super Bowl ring," Berry said. "I'm not that kind of guy. That's not me. The ring means a lot to me and I want to do whatever it takes to get it back. This isn't what I'm about."

Since being cut by the Ravens, Berry hasn't played for another NFL team.

"This isn't a good look, I know that, but I swear this didn't start with me," Berry said. "I have a lawyer who's working with me to try to get the ring back.

"I was shocked when people starting coming at me on Twitter about what's up with my Super Bowl ring. It's definitely upsetting, but everything will be all right."

Damien Berry jailed in Florida

DamienBerryRavens
Former Ravens reserve running back Damien Berry is in a Florida jail and is facing outstanding warrants in Maryland on charges of writing a worthless check for over $100,000 and unauthorized removal of property, according to Florida and Maryland court records.

The unauthorized removal of property involves Berry taking a car, according to a jail official.

Berry remains in the Lee County Jail in Ft. Myers, Fla., on the warrants and hasn't signed a letter of extradition, jail officials told The Baltimore Sun, but will eventually be extradited, according to a jail official.

He was arrested on the warrant Monday morning. Berry faces no new charges in Florida.

Berry also has active cases in Maryland for driving on a suspended license and failure to appear, failure to display license on demand and failure to appear and failure to pay child support and failure to appear.

proCane Pro Day Recap

NFLU2009
In front of reps from all 32 NFL teams, the unquestioned star was receiver Phillip Dorsett. He blazed his way to an unofficial 4.25-second 40-yard dash after running an already-excellent 4.33 at the NFL combine in February. He could have settled on that time and simply performed pass-catching drills for NFL scouts, but Dorsett wanted to put on a show.

“It was just me and my competitive spirit just coming out here and doing everything,” Dorsett said. “Because I know everybody wants to see it. Everybody likes to see a guy go out and compete and do everything.”

Dorsett, who measured in at 5-foot-10 and 184 pounds, said he improved his vertical to 38 inches (he leaped 37 at the combine) and bench-pressed 225 pounds 13 times (he did not lift at the combine).

For me, the star of the day was Phillip Dorsett,” NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said. “A kid who didn’t have to do anything because he performed so well at the combine. What did he do today? Comes out runs a 4.25, 4.26, jumps 38 inches, 10-9 broad [jump], and then looked fantastic catching the football and getting in and out of breaks. I thought Phillip Dorsett had an outstanding day.”

Dorsett will work out for the Dolphins, Panthers and Falcons. What if the hometown chose him?

“Being a Hurricane and I always was a fan of the Dolphins, too,” said Dorsett, from Fort Lauderdale-St. Thomas Aquinas. “It would be great. It would be a dream come true,” he said.

* Linebacker Denzel Perryman suffered a pulled right hamstring and scratched on his second attempt at running the 40-yard dash. UM did not release official testing results to the media, but according to a group of scouts that got together and compared times, Perryman’s first heat in the 40 was a 4.67 — better than the 4.78 he ran in Indianapolis.

He did not perform in the shuttle, 3-cone and positional drills. He said not being able to finish was “real disappointing, but I think a lot of teams just wanted to see what I could run. I feel I accomplished that today. I answered a lot of questions.”

He said he measured in at 5-11 and 239 pounds and put up 30 reps of 225 pounds. He increased his vertical from 32 (combine) to 33 inches.

Perryman watched film with the Lions hours before pro day began and has three NFL team visits lined up: he will meet with the Dolphins next Thursday, the Falcons on April 12 and the Panthers on April 16. Along with Clive Walford and Dorsett, he ate dinner with Saints brass Tuesday night at Fleming’s Steakhouse in Coral Gables. Perryman said he ate shrimp and scallops (Rob Ryan had a steak, if you were wondering).

* Running back Duke Johnson ran a 4.47 twice, which was a much better result than his combine time (4.54). He also “caught the ball naturally,” according to Mayock.

Why run the 40 again? “I wanted to do it for myself, because I know I can do better, and I know I train too hard to run what I ran at the combine,” he said, adding that his “game speed speaks for itself. … If you run 4.2, 4.3 but you don’t play it, it really doesn’t make a difference.”

Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey agreed.

“When we watch guys play with helmets and shoulder pads, those are the important things,” he said. “Those guys that play fast and also run fast, that’s great. The importance is the speed they play at.” The 40 time is “a measurement — you always judge it against how they play.”

Johnson, who measured in at 5-9 and 203 pounds, said he did 18 reps of 225. He did not lift at the NFL combine.

Tight end Clive Walford did not run because he suffered a hamstring pull last week. Walford (6-4, 250) said he would meet with the Steelers after pro day and the Falcons and Packers in the coming days. He said he has talked to a laundry list of teams, including the Dolphins, Saints, Falcons, Packers, Broncos, Chargers, 49ers, Ravens, Chiefs and Buccaneers.

Walford, a Glades Central grad and South Bay native, on the hometown team: “I talked to them. I wouldn’t say a lot, but I saw that move that they made this offseason. Shout-out to the Dolphins.” He’s talking, of course, about the Fins adding Ndamukong Suh.

Is UM’s tight end tradition helping his draft stock? “We produce great tight ends,” he said. “Look at the history. We’ve got great ones to come. I feel I kept up that legacy. Hopefully the young ones do as well.

* Offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, a projected first-rounder, did not perform lifting drills – he was the top overall bench-presser at the NFL combine, with 37 reps of 225 – but did everything else. Flowers did not speak to the media (he rarely does).

Mayock was very high on Flowers, Jon Feliciano and Shane McDermott‘s performances.

“I counted eight to 10 offensive line coaches, obviously here to see mostly Ereck Flowers, who I think is going to be a first-round draft pick,” he said. “But Feliciano could get drafted. Shane McDermott could get drafted. I thought it was a great day for that whole group of players.”

* Defensive end Anthony Chickillo, who looked even lighter than he did at the combine (when he measured 6-3, 267), looked like a much more explosive player than he was as a 280-pound strong-side defensive end at UM. “Very twitchy” was Walford’s assessment. “Quick. Fast.”

* Quarterbacks Ryan Williams and Jake Heaps threw a variety of routes for scouts. Williams said he checked in at 6-4 and change and 215 pounds, and ran a 4.84 in the 40. Before tearing his ACL last April 4 – 362 days ago – he said he ran in the 5-second range. He definitely looked a lot faster than before. He has several meetings scheduled, but has not worked out with an NFL team.

“I’m always positive,” Williams said. “Regardless if I get drafted or not I’m still going to get a chance somewhere so I’m not really worried about the draft.”

* Cornerback Ladarius Gunter ran a solid 4.56 time in the 40 and looked very rangy in coverage drills.  He’s projected as a mid-round pick.

* Linebacker Thurston Armbrister showed good speed and agility, though he struggled to catch interceptions in drills. Would bet he gets a shot somewhere.

* Defensive tackle Olsen Pierre ran a 5.15 in the 40.

* If you saw my Twitter feed, you’ll get a roll of NFL personnel I spotted, but among the notables were a large contingent of Dolphins personnel (GM Dennis Hickey, VP Mike Tannenbaum, head coach Joe Philbin, offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle, running backs coach Jeff Nixon, special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi), Jets head coach Todd Bowles, Saints head coach Sean Payton and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. NFL Network said seven GMs attended, including Hickey. The others: Mickey Loomis (Saints), Mike Maccagnan (Jets), Kevin Colbert (Steelers), Doug Whaley (Bills), Steve Keim (Arizona), Ruston Webster (Tennessee) and Floyd Reese (Giants). Former Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland, now a college scout with New Orleans, was also there.

* Former Hurricanes who attended included Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, Clinton Portis, Edgerrin James, Demarcus Van Dyke, Jacory Harris, Lamar Miller and Tommy Streeter. A slew of players from the 2012 and 2013 teams were there. Jonathan Vilma was also in attendance, working for NBC Sports along with former Dolphins great Jason Taylor. NFL Network had a five-person crew and analyst Mike Mayock interviewed several UM players and coach Al Golden, who did not speak to other media.

* Former Hurricanes running back Damien Berry, a Glades Central grad who won a Super Bowl with Baltimore in 2012, was the oldest of several pre-2014 Hurricanes who worked out (linebacker Tyrone Cornelius and defensive end Shayon Green, both from the 2013 team, also performed).  “I’m still young, 26 years old. I think it’s time to give it another shot,” said Berry, who last played for UM in 2010 and now lives in Boca Raton. Berry, 5-11 and 230 pounds, he said he ran a 4.7 in the 40.

Damien Berry's Super Bowl ring sold at auction

DamienBerryRavens
Former Ravens running back Damien Berry's Super Bowl XLVII ring has been sold for $43,008, according to Goldin Auctions.

A former reserve player from the University of Miami who spent the 2012 season on injured reserve, Berry sold his ring and it was put up for consignment through a third party. Berry initially disputed that he had sold the ring before Goldin Auctions provided proof of a sales agreement and check made out to the former NFL player. Berry is no longer disputing the sale.

Former Ravens linebacker Jamie Sharper's Super Bowl XXXV ring was auctioned off for $36,883. Former Baltimore Colts defensive back and kick returner Leonard Lyles' 1958 world championship ring was sold for $14,372.

Other items sold included a 1955 Jackie Robinson bat for $162,267, a 1966 Mickey Mantle bat for $45,720, New England Patriots Spygate videographer Matt Estrella's Super Bowl ring for $15,810, R.C. Owens' San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl XXIX ring for $38,281 and Julius Erving's final NBA All-Star game ring for $29,375.

Total sales for memorabilia at the winter auction was $2.3 million.

"We are thrilled that our first auction that was not primarily baseball items was so well received by so many collectors around the world as we set company records for most bids, most bidders and website hits," said Ken Goldin, founder of Goldin Auctions.  "The Robinson bat final price, being one of the two highest-priced such bats ever sold and setting a record for this type of bat, was especially exciting."

Notarized documents show Damien Berry sold his Super Bowl ring

DamienBerryRavens
Although former Ravens running back Damien Berry has denied selling his Super Bowl XLVII ring, notarized documents provided to The Baltimore Sun by Goldin Auctions contradict his version of events.

In a telephone interview, Ken Goldin, the founder of Goldin Auctions, said that Berry and witness Brian Levine, went to a Wells-Fargo bank in Florida to have the sales contract notarized. Goldin said that Berry displayed his driver's license to an authorized, licensed notary before being given two cashier's checks that the NFL player then cashed at the bank.

A copy of one cashier's check in the amount of $10,000 from Wells-Fargo made out to Berry was emailed to The Sun. The documents show that the purchase agreement was signed and executed on Aug, 30, 2013.

Goldin said that the ring was later sold to an undisclosed third party, which then consigned it to Goldin Auctions.

"We feel like our credibility has been questioned by Damien, and I feel like he's injuring the sale of the ring," Goldin said. "We wanted to set the record straight and assure the winning bidder on the ring to know that we have full authorization to sell the ring and they will own it clear and unencumbered.

"I don't know why Damien is doing this, but I can only imagine that Damien is embarrassed. You don't see [former Ravens linebacker] Jamie Sharper saying anything. As a business owner, I'm obligated to defend our business practices."

Attempts to reach Berry on Monday were not successful. Berry told The Sun last week that a friend put the ring up for sale without his knowledge to an undisclosed third party, which then sold it to Goldin Auctions.

"I would never knowingly sell my Super Bowl ring," Berry said. "I'm not that kind of guy. That's not me. The ring means a lot to me and I want to do whatever it takes to get it back. This isn't what I'm about."

Goldin emphasized that the witnessed, notarized sales agreement will be provided to the winning bidder of the online auction at www.GoldinAuctions.com
The minimum bid for Berry's ring, shown here on the auction website -- is $15,000. As of Monday afternoon, the highest of five bids was $36,603.

The auction includes Sharper's Super Bowl XXVI ring, which has a current high bid of $16,106, former Ravens running back Jamal Lewis' personal Super Bowl XXXV trophy, which has no bids yet and a minimum bid of $7,500, and former Baltimore Colts defensive back and kick returner Lester Lyles' 1958 NFL championship ring. The highest bid on Lyles' ring is $2,925.

Berry is a former University of Miami player who spent the 2012 season on injured reserve. He was released by the Ravens before the 2013 regular season.
"This isn't a good look, I know that, but I swear this didn't start with me," Berry said last week. "I have a lawyer who's working with me to try to get the ring back. I was shocked when people starting coming at me on Twitter about what's up with my Super Bowl ring. It's definitely upsetting, but everything will be all right."

Damien Berry denies putting Super Bowl ring up for sale

DamienBerryRavens
Former Ravens running back Damien Berry denied putting his Super Bowl XLVII ring up for sale, telling The Baltimore Sun that the pending auction wasn't authorized by him.

Berry said a friend put the ring up for sale without his knowledge, selling the ring to an undisclosed third party that later sold it to Goldin Auctions.

"I would never knowingly sell my Super Bowl ring," Berry said. "I'm not that kind of guy. That's not me. The ring means a lot to me and I want to do whatever it takes to get it back. This isn't what I'm about."

However, Ken Goldin, the founder of Goldin Auctions, told The Baltimore Sun on Saturday night that he has a copy of a sales agreement with Berry that includes witnessed, notarized documents for a chain of custody that will be made available to the winning bidder of an online auction conducted through www.GoldinAuctions.com.

Goldin said that his company conducts extensive research and verification of all items, and wouldn't sell anything that it's not authorized to make available for auctions.

A source familiar with Goldin Auctions' business practices said the company conducts extensive background checks to ensure that there's paperwork backing up the legality of all sales.

The minimum bid for Berry's ring -- pictured here on the Goldin Auctions website -- is $15,000. As of Saturday night, the highest of five bids was $36,603.
A former University of Miami player, Berry spent the 2012 season on injured reserve with the Ravens before being cut prior to the start of the 2013 regular season.

Berry expressed embarrassment about the ring being up for sale.

"This isn't a good look, I know that, but I swear this didn't start with me," Berry said. "I have a lawyer who's working with me to try to get the ring back. I was shocked when people starting coming at me on Twitter about what's up with my Super Bowl ring. It's definitely upsetting, but everything will be all right."

The winter auction also includes former Ravens linebacker Jamie Sharper's Super Bowl XXXV ring, former Ravens running back Jamal Lewis' 2000 Super Bowl trophy and former Baltimore Colts defensive back and kick returner Leonard Lyles' 1958 NFL championship ring.

There are no bids yet on Lewis' personal trophy, but four bids have been entered for Sharper's ring, with a high of is $14,641.

Goldin Auctions says it has sold more than $600 million worth of sports memorabilia, including a Honus Wagner T206 card for a sale of $2.1 million in 2012.

“This is a rare opportunity for a Ravens fans or a collector to own a Super Bowl ring less than a year after it was earned,” Gold said in a statement announcing the auction. “NFL Championship rings and Super Bowl rings are coveted by collectors because it is rare for them to become available.  That is why we are so excited to offer these unique finds in our 2014 Winter Auction.”

Damien Berry has already sold his Super Bowl XLVII ring

DamienBerryRavens
This may ruffle some of the fans' feathers that would do anything to have the chance to be a part of a team that goes on to win a Super Bowl championship.

Former Ravens running back Damien Berry, one year removed from being a part of a franchise that won Super Bowl XLVII, has sold his ring, which is now being offered to online consumer, according to Goldin Auctions.

Berry was a member of the Ravens' practice squad in 2011 and spent 2012 on injured reserve. He did not make the regular season roster or practice squad in 2013.

In addition to Berry's ring, former Ravens safety Jamie Sharper auctioned his ring off to the memorabilia company too. In addition, Jamal Lewis' Super Bowl trophy is available for sale too.

In a news release, the company also mentioned the other memorabilia items for sale.

"This is a rare opportunity for a fan or a collector to own a Super Bowl ring less than a year after it was earned and one from a landmark NFL game," said Ken Goldin, founder of Goldin Auctions. "NFL Championship rings and Super Bowl player rings are coveted by collectors because it is rare for them to become available. That is why we are so excited to offer these unique finds in our 2014 Winter Auction."

Damien Berry gives back to Belle Glade

DamienBerry
There were plenty of wide eyed young football players in Belle Glade on Saturday morning, as Baltimore Raven running back and Super Bowl Champion Damien Berry returned home for his inaugural Football Camp. Berry, along with several current and former NFL stars, helped the kids work on their football skills, with the overall goal of inspiring them in their lives.

"There are a lot things that transpire in our lives which put us in different places," said Damien Berry, "opportunity is one of them. When given the chance you must take the initiative, embrace it and do your best to accomplish your goal. With God first, and family you can strive to make it a reality."

The Grace FLY Youth Foundation was founded by Damien's father Kenny Berry, and according to a statement it's "mission is to empower the youth of Palm Beach County through its outreach programs".

"There's a better way," says Kenny Berry, " and what they see out in Belle Glade, that's not the whole World. Not everyone's gonna make it in football, so you have to have something to fall back on, and that's what the Grace Fly Youth Foundation is about."

proCanes Represent More Than Any Other School on NFL Championship Weekend

NFLU2009
In all, as many as 212 players will participate in the AFC and NFC championship games on Sunday – four teams, 53 players per team. When including players not on the active rosters of the four teams playing for a shot at the Super Bowl, however, the total jumps to more than 250.

The schools represented on the Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens range from college football's elite (Alabama, Ohio State, Texas and Florida) to those situated far outside the national picture (Hillsdale, Bellhaven, Lane and Indiana).

Here are the eight schools most represented by the four teams playing Sunday for a trip to the Super Bowl:

1. Miami (Fla.): 12. P Matt Bosher, OL Harland Gunn, DL Micanor Regis (Atlanta); LB Tavares Gooden, RB Frank Gore (San Francisco); DL Vince Wilfork, DL Marcus Forston (New England); LB Ray Lewis, OL Bryant McKinnie, RB Damien Berry, WR Tommy Streeter, S Ed Reed (Baltimore).

2. (tie) Oregon: 7. WR Drew Davis (Atlanta); RB LaMichael James, FB Will Tukuafu (San Francisco); TE Ed Dickson, DL Haloti Ngata, QB Dennis Dixon (Baltimore).

2. (tie) Florida: 7. LB Mike Peterson (Atlanta); DL Ray McDonald (San Francisco); DL Jermaine Cunningham, RB Jeff Demps, TE Aaron Hernandez, LB Brandon Spikes (New England); WR Deonte Thompson (Baltimore).

4. (tie) Alabama: 6. OL Mike Johnson, WR Julio Jones (Atlanta); DL Brandon Deaderick, LB Dont'a Hightower (New England); DL Terrence Cody, LB Courtney Upshaw (Baltimore).

4. (tie) Iowa: 6. DL Jonathan Babineaux (Atlanta); LB Jeff Tarpinian, TE Brad Herman, OL Markus Zusevics (New England); S Sean Considine, OL Marshal Yanda (Baltimore).

4. (tie) Texas: 6. OL Justin Blalock (Atlanta); CB Tarell Brown, OL Leonard Davis (San Francisco); OL Kyle Hix (New England); CB Chykie Brown, K Justin Tucker (Baltimore).

4. (tie) South Carolina: 6. DL John Abraham, DL Cliff Matthews, DL Travian Robertson, CB Dunta Robinson (Atlanta); S Emanuel Cook, CB Chris Culliver (Baltimore).

4. (tie) Ohio State: 6. OL Alex Boone, WR Ted Ginn Jr., LB Larry Grant, S Donte Whitner (San Francisco); TE Jake Ballard, S Nate Ebner (New England).
Another eight schools have five players on the rosters: Arizona State, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, UCF, Rutgers, Syracuse and Illinois.

Teams with four players: Oklahoma State, Marshall, Michigan, Fresno State, Utah, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri, Louisville, LSU and Georgia Tech.

Three players: Auburn, Wisconsin, Maryland, California, Wake Forest, Florida State, Penn State, Kansas, Purdue, Northwestern, Texas Tech and Arkansas.

Two players: Baylor, Michigan State, Stanford, Boston College, Clemson, Connecticut, ECU, Oregon State, Richmond, San Jose State, Kentucky, Montana, North Carolina, Northern Illinois, TCU, UCLA, Notre Dame, Central Michigan, Delaware, Iowa State, Colorado, Tennessee State, Nebraska, Buffalo, Arizona and Washburn.

Luck of the draw plays a role, of course, but it's a bit surprising to see that schools like Virginia Tech, USC, Oklahoma and Texas A&M only have one player each on the four rosters. Not surprising? That one player represents schools like Prairie View A&M, Lane, Harvard, Weber State, Chadron State (Danny Woodhead), Hillsdale and Hofstra (which no longer has a football program).
