Jeremy Shockey, 27, remains a
candidate to be traded on draft weekend. The
Giants won a Super Bowl without him, and they have
another capable tight end, Kevin Boss, who is
younger (24) and has a smaller contract. It can't
be ignored that the play of QB Eli Manning
improved last season after Shockey was sidelined
with a broken leg. If the Giants keep Shockey,
they will be keeping an emotional player who may
no longer feel wanted. And there is a market for
him. The Saints -- whose coach, Sean Payton, was
the Giants' offensive coordinator during Shockey's
rookie season -- are interested. . . .
