When the Pittsburgh Steelers
picked running back Rashard Mendenhall in the
first round of the 2008 draft, it became fairly
obvious that veteran Najeh Davenport would be the
odd man out.
And that’s precisely the case.
A league source tells us that the Steelers are shopping
Davenport, calling teams to gauge potential interest.
Davenport is signed through 2008, and he’s
scheduled to earn a base salary of $1 million this
season. He rushed for 499 yards on 107 carries in
2007.
