The 2nd ranked Miami Hurricanes beat the West Virginia Mountaneers 27-3 before a Homecoming Game crowd of 60,250 in the Orange Bowl !  The victory set up a #1 versus #2 matchup against the Florida State Seminoles in the November 16 game in Tallahassee !
UMSHoF member Gino Torretta completed 23 of 35 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown pass to Lamar Thomas.  Torretta, not known as a rushing quarterback, ran 8 times for 31 yards and a 1 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter to seal the victory !

UMSHoF member kicker Carlos Huerta added 2 field goals, and Stephen McGuire scored on a 4 yard run.
The Miami defense, led by UMSHoF member Michael Barrow, who had 8 solo and 10 total tackles, held the Mounteneers to 232 total yards and had 2 interceptions, one by UMSHoF member Ryan McNeil. 
UMSHoF member and head coach Dennis Erickson's Canes moved to 8-0 and prepared for the "Game of The Century" the following week at Doak Campbell Stadium !

Ed Reed and Bryant McKinnie, members of the 2001 National Champions, will be inducted into the UM Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2012 inductees at the 44th Annual UMSHoF Induction Banquet, to be held Thursday, March 29th, 2012 at Miami's Jungle Island !  Go to  for more details !
